I-80 Saga Continues

After a contentious summer of back and forth debate the proposal to toll I-80 is being challenged by Representatives along I-80. Two local congressman have asked that the road not be tolled and local businesses and residents are fighting to stop it from being tolled as well.

So what are the consequences for this region if I-80 is not tolled. The governor recently asked for updated proposals for leasing the PA Turnpike in the event that I-80 does not come through. If I-80 is not tolled will ACT 44 have to be disbanded? Will the State legislature have to work on solving our highway, bridge and transit issues once again?

Only time will tell but in order to clarify its intentions with I-80 the PA Turnpike has posted a website with information on what they are planning for the roadway. The turnpike will posting more information about their plans as they become available and you can find all the information by logging onto: http://www.paturnpike.com/i80/
