SEPTA Changes Routes on the 422 Corridor

This fall, SEPTA will be making changes to the Route 93 and the Route 139, which service the US 422 Corridor. The Route 139, which began service in 2008, provides riders with service from the Plaza at the King of Prussia Mall to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets via Phoenixville. Due to poor ridership to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, SEPTA will be changing the western terminus of the bus route. Rather than enter US 422 at Township Line Road in Limerick Township, the bus will continue north on Township Line Road to the intersection of Ridge Pike, where it will terminate. Riders needing to continue to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets will be able to transfer to the Route 93 bus to complete their journey. To accommodate the transfer, SEPTA is increasing the headways on the Route 93 from hourly to half hourly.

The service changes will begin mid-fall, and be permanent. The Philadelphia Premium Outlets is a strong ridership generator for SEPTA, however most of the ridership is on the Route 93, which began service to the outlets when they opened in 2007. Recent developments at the intersection of Township Line Road and Ridge Pike warrants this change, and with new service from Phoenixville, creates an opportunity for employees and shoppers to use transit rather than an automobile trip.
