Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) is an innovative membership program that provides qualified employers with national recognition and an elite designation for offering outstanding commuter benefits, such as free or low cost bus passes and vanpool fares and strong telework programs. Employers that meet the National Standard of Excellence in commuter benefits—a standard created by the National Center for Transit Research (NCTR) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)—can get on the list of Best Workplaces for Commuters and receive high level programs and services.
GVF received Gold level recognition as a champion for the Best Workplaces for Commuters Race to Excellence in 2010. This year GVF is striving to have our company recognized as a Best Workplaces for Commuters, in addition to being a champion. Our staff regularly provides resources for our partners to ensure they are educated on alternative modes of transportation, as well as additional sustainable initiatives they can be pursuing. As a commuter resource, GVF also wanted to "practice what we preach" by relocating our office near transit, providing showers/lockers within the business park in case staff wanted to bike to work, in addition to commuter benefits, such as flex time and selling SEPTA products in the office, to name just a few.
To determine levels of eligibility for participating in the program, employers should review the BWC application, as well as their Race to Excellence application to see if your organization qualifies as an Employee Transportation Coordinator and/or a Supporting Agency. If you are a GVF partner and need assistance with your BWC application, please do not hesitate to contact us today at 610-354-8899!!
