Last week Governor Rendell asked interested agencies to submit proposals for leasing and or buying the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Keep in mind the proposals are to focus on the main line not the Northeast Extension and other spurs off the highway. So what do you think? Is this better then rasing the gas or the real estate transfer tax? Weigh in with your opinion. For the full Philadelphia Inquirer article click here...

I have heard a lot about this. Some questions I have are:
1.) Will we see any state troopers on the turnpike if it is privatized?
2.) Since the construction of casinos I haven't seen any police on our turnpikes. If any.
3.) What about fire and rescue? Will it still be our responsibility to have local fire and rescue take care of state issues? If it is anything like our public transportation then I say NO!
4.) At some point the states have to take responsibility for public issues. By them privatizing our turnpike it says to me that they don't care. What about Union workers? That's right I said it!!! Will the unions have access to the privatized turnpikes?
*5.) Will it be an American company or will you hire a foreign country?
6.) What is going on with our Navy Yard?
No- to privatizing Government responsibility. How bout the people own the turnpike. Could the turnpike have a highspeed train attached to it? At $4.00 a gallon of gas and you want to make people pay more tolls and still deal with traffic congestion.

The future is now the past! You have to constantly move forward to keep from falling behind.
"What happened to Clear Channel?"
What happened to the FCC?
Will you hire a private equity firm to run the Turn Pike? Maybe Microsoft will buy the Turn Pike?
I see a Turn Pike with full access to public transportation run by the state with stations where you can read a book, jump on a train and head to Erie PA, catch a game in Pitt. and then head to an art gallery in center city all on the turnpike.

The same can be done with buses and cars, and single carrier modules. I am truly worried about our future as a nation. Why are we so far behind other countries? We seem to be selling the technology instead of using it to better ourselves as a nation and people. We could be the first state to set the ground word for a new future in public transportation. The turnpike entrances could be access point much like train stations. You could have restaurants, book stores modular, eco-friendly housing communities. I could go on and on. I love Pennsylvania and I know money is the root of all evil.
I hope this is a help to whoever is ready this.
